Box-it! Container Guide

Our Box It! service only collects certain items for recycling. This guide will help ensure the correct items are placed for collection in the right containers.

If you have signed up to participate in our Box It! kerbside recycling scheme, your household will have been supplied with two boxes, made from recycled plastic, to put items to be recycled in. There is a big box and a smaller box and a bag.

How to prepare your recyclables

Storing your containers

Your boxes can be stored either inside or outside your house, or wherever you have suitable space. You have only been given one lid for the paper box. You can stack the paper box on top of the bigger box, which will prevent materials blowing away, help save space and keep the paper dry.

On very windy days the lid could blow off. If this is likely to happen to you please place a brick or similar object on top of the box to reduce litter.

It may not always be possible to give you back the same boxes each time they are emptied because of the collection methods being used. However, you are welcome to place your house number on the boxes and the crews will try to return them.

Please ensure the boxes are kept clean. Washing the items for recycling before placing in the box will help with this. The glass bag is machine washable at a low temperature but do not tumble dry or iron.
