Abandoned Vehicles

Photo of an abandoned vehicle Lewes District Council has a legal responsibility to remove vehicles that are abandoned within the law, that is, where all the rights of property and possession have been given up and that no one is responsible for the vehicle. The term 'vehicle' includes parts of vehicles and trailers or parts of trailers.

In all cases please provide the following information

  • Exact location
  • Make of vehicle, including model
  • Registration number
  • Colour
  • How long at site

Reporting an abandoned vehicle online

To do this, please click on the link below. You will be redirected to the Sussex Police web site where you will be able to enter the details of the vehicle and its location on a Public Reporting Form. The form should only take a few minutes to complete - and the more information you can provide, the quicker we can begin proceedings to remove the vehicle.
