This means we first deploy available sandbags in locations that help protect whole areas rather than individual properties - for example at riverside behind the River Lodge Surgery in Lewes. While sandbag depots will be established for individual householders and businesses close to flood risk areas, the District Council cannot guarantee to meet all emergency demands. Our main sandbag depots are at the Community Recycling Centre, North Street, Lewes and at Robinson Road Depot, Newhaven. It is helpful if householders and businesses make their own plans to handle a flood emergency, including providing their own sandbags. You can buy sandbags from builders' merchants. However, there is nothing special about sandbags. Growbags, bin liners or plastic bags filled with earth can also help keep water out. Relevant DocumentsSandbags available for collection |
