On 7th August the Environment Agency moved to a more targeted service of community flood warning areas. Communities within floodplains have been identified and ‘Flood Warnings’ will be tailored specifically to these areas. ‘Flood Watches’ will still be issued to the full extent of the floodplain.
The following PDF document goes to a list of the new community areas for the Lewes District and relevant parts of Wealden
The following PDF document details the Flood Warning Codes and how they should be interpreted. You will continue to receive warnings in exactly the same way as you do now e.g. phone, fax, email, text, however they will be to the new flood warning areas. The Environment Agency has written to the public to inform them of these changes to the Flood Warning Service. Should you have any questions regarding the Flood Warning Service please contact Floodline on 0845 988 1188.
Environment Agency telephone 0845 9881188. The current flood situation and warnings can be found via the external link below to their Flooding section.
