Comment On Applications

Comment on a propose planning application by completing our online form and submitting your opinion now.

Planning applications are widely publicised to give everyone an opportunity to make their representations on a proposal. There are four main ways in which we do this.

Neighbour notification

We write to adjoining residents on every occasion. In some cases wider consultation will be carried out at the discretion of the case officer.

Newspaper

Each week we publish in the Sussex Express a schedule of new planning applications received.

Site Notice

We display a notice at the site where an application has been made. We do our best to make sure it is visible from a public road.

Online

We publish the weekly list of new applications on this website.

In addition, copies of all applications can be inspected at Planning Services offices at Southover House.

Making comments

If you would like to comment on a planning application, we have an online form to fill out and submit.

To assist we have guidance on what issues we take into account when considering an application.

Any comments must be received by the date stated on the public notice. We cannot guarantee comments received after this date will be taken into account when the application is determined.

All letters of representation are acknowledged. The law requires these to be made available for public inspection and therefore objections cannot be treated as confidential.

Once an application has been determined we write to all those who made comments.
