Planning Process

• Latest Planning Applications

  We publish a list each week of planning applications received. These can be viewed in detail within our planning database.

• Planning Application Forms

  It is now possible to submit a planning application online through the Planning Portal. However, paper forms are available to download and submit.

• Planning Application Submission & Process

  When ready, make a formal planning application to us and understand the process it goes through for consideration.

• Planning Application Database

  Search for detailed records of planning applications and appeals within the district and submit comments to those pending a decision.

• Planning Application Committee

  Read planning meeting agendas, minutes and decision notices, councillor members involved from our committee managagement database.

• Comment On Applications

  Comment on a propose planning application by completing our online form and submitting your opinion now.

• Retrospective Planning Approval

  Retrospective planning permission is needed if approval has not been given in advance of development work starting and is required by law.

• Planning Appeals

  Appealing a decision made on an application can take place but has to be done to recognised proceedures and within a set period of time.

• Planning Enforcement

  Details of enforcing planning legislation within the district and the steps taken if a breach is committed by a development.

• Street Naming & Numbering

  The naming and numbering of streets and buildings in Lewes District, is controlled by the Council under the Town Improvement Clauses Act 1847 and the Public Health Act 1925.
