New affordable homes ready for local residents
A project to build 22 new council homes on former garage sites across the Lewes district has been completed, with tenants already occupying the majority of them.
The properties in Peacehaven, Seaford, Newhaven and Telscombe Cliffs have all been advertised and allocated to households on the Lewes District Council housing register.
Councillor Ron Maskell, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “I am delighted that these homes are now available for local people to move into and in many cases, are already being lived in.
“Delivering affordable homes to meet residents’ needs is a priority for us, and it is particularly gratifying to provide these by making the most of these brownfield sites.”
The homes are located at:
- Hythe Crescent, Seaford (two homes)
- Headland Way, Peacehaven (three homes)
- Balcombe Road, Peacehaven (six homes)
- Rectory Close, Newhaven (five homes)
- Grassmere Court, Telscombe Cliffs (six homes)
The properties were developed by Thakeham Client. Steve Tuhey, Managing Director for Thakeham Client, said: “The efficient delivery of this project was made possible by the brilliant team ethos that has developed between Thakeham Client and Lewes District Council.
“Thakeham Client are proud of this relationship and it has been a pleasure working with LDC to redevelop some of these brownfield sites.
“These sites have been transformed into much needed new affordable housing to meet the needs of the council’s housing register and we look forward to working with the council again on future projects.”
