Lewes Bonfire 2016
Bonfire night celebrations will take place in Lewes on Saturday 5 November.
This event is a Lewes tradition going back many years and is meant for the residents of Lewes only, as it allows them to celebrate this historically important event for the town. The wider Sussex community are asked to attend bonfire events closer to home.
We want to ensure the safety of those attending and it is important to be aware this event is not suitable for children and pets.
On 5 November 2016 on street parking will be suspended on certain streets in Lewes town from 12 noon and a number of roads will be closed from 5pm until 3am. Local roads will be heavily congested. Vehicles must be removed from the routes where the parking suspensions are in place. If you have a residents’ parking permit and need assistance on alternative parking locations for the evening please contact the Parking Shop by email. Alternatively you can telephone 0345 680 1129 and select option 2. Any vehicles that remain will be towed away from 3pm on the day.
Please visit the Lewes District Council website www.lewes.gov.uk/bonfire for more information.
Sussex Police would like to remind anyone attending that the throwing of fireworks in the street will not be tolerated and will be dealt with robustly.
