The ‘HERE HERE’ campaign is an exciting new partnership initiative which seeks to bring people and nature closer together in the Brighton & Hove and Lewes Downs area.
The Biosphere is the world in which we live and share with other things – the zone of life around our planet – for which UNESCO is developing a global network of Biosphere reserves which promote a balanced relationship between people and nature. These are real world-class natural environments.
Gaining international recognition for what we do already and setting us fresh challenges for the future, will improve how we care for and enjoy our special local environment.
A three month consultation has been launched to inform the public about the bid and to ask you whether you support it. The questionnaire also what you value most about the area and what you would like to see improved. This information will be used to help shape future Biosphere projects and priorities.
Robbie Robertson, Lead Councillor for Community Engagement and Health & Environment, said “I would urge you to take part in the consultation. The Biosphere bid is seeking to gain international recognition for the good work that already takes place in the area. It will also enable the partnership, which includes Lewes District Council, to attract funding to improve our environment and to join up current work and activities”.
