• We welcome National Park announcement

  31 March 2009: We welcome the Ministerial announcement that a new South Downs National Park is to be set up.

• Work starts on historic areas

  30 April 2009: We are starting work on assessing four more historic areas of the district and is looking for help from local people.

• Tourism boost for district

  23 March 2009: A recent Economic Impact of Tourism Study commissioned by us shows tourism has increased by £7million (4%) since 2005.

• Invitation to join Artwave 2009

  23 March 2009: Are you feeling creative and want to share it with others? Artwave 2009 could be just the answer.

• Help with Mortgage Rescue Scheme

  23 March 2009: We and other councils in East Sussex are operating a new mortgage rescue scheme to give the best possible help to local households.

• New petanque area in Seaford

  17 March 2009: A new petanque terrain facility at the Downs Day Centre in Seaford is officially open.

• Housing and council tax benefit prosecution

  16 March 2009: A local resident is successfully prosecuted for falsely claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

• Meeting to discuss Lewes development

  12 March 2009: A new newsletter is distributed and meeting planned to discuss development and flooding issues within Lewes town.

• New trees at Seaford Cemetery

  4 March 2009: Our Parks department will be starting work on Monday 9 March in preparation for the planting of a variety of new trees at Seaford cemetery.

• Celebration of women's achievements

  3 March 2009: A week of events will be held across Lewes district from 7 - 14 March 2009 to coincide with International Women’s Day on 8 March.
