Fort Road Recreation Ground, NewhavenFort Road Recreation Ground is the larger of two recreation grounds in Newhaven. It is located at the southern end of Fort Road. Lying at the foot of the proposed Castle Hill Nature Reserve, Fort Road Recreation Ground has a number of amenities to offer, whether for those taking a leisurely walk or those wishing to participate in more energetic pursuits such as tennis or jogging. During the summertime cricket is played on the square, with bowls on the manicured bowling green, while in the winter season football takes over as the main sport. Facilities include:
The Salts Recreation Ground, SeafordThe Salts recreation ground is situated between the sea and Seaford main line railway station. It is the largest and most diverse public open space in Seaford. It has a well-equipped children's play area and sports facilities that include rugby, football, tennis, cricket and pitch and putt. The children's play area has a range of equipment that caters for toddlers up to teenagers. Close to the play area, the skate equipment area includes a grind rail and quarter pipes. Tennis courts are available on a turn up and play basis, whilst the hire of golf clubs and payment for the use of the pitch and putt is available through the café situated adjacent to the play area. On odd occasions the old Sussex game of stool ball, traceable back to 1450, can be seen being played, This game has similarities to cricket and rounders. The café is open for refreshments during the summer season with female, male and disabled conveniences located within the recreation ground. The closest public car park is located outside the main entrance in Richmond Road with the main Seaford railway station just a short walk away. Facilities include:
