The Asham Literary Endowment Trust was set up by Lewes District Council in 1995 to support and encourage new writing and to take professional writers to new audiences. It is named after Asham House near Lewes where Virginia and Leonard Woolf lived 1912 - 1919. Read More...Its purpose is to promote excellence in literature through competitions, events and sponsorship for emerging writers of all ages, and in particular to encourage the development of the short story by linking winners of the Asham Award with well established writers The Asham Award is open to woman over 18 of any nationality, provided that they are resident in the UK and have not previously have a novel or book of short stories published.
