DirectGov's Job Seekers section on their website has links to huge amount of information on all aspects of looking for work. This external link can be found at the bottom of this page. Jobseeker's allowance is a working age benefit for those who are under 65 (for men) or under 60 (for women), and are not working or working on average less than 16 hours a week, available for work, capable of working, actively seeking work. It is not a Council benefit, but is administered by Jobcentre Plus on behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions.
