Council tenancies

Housing Services are responsible for:

• Lettings of the Council's properties and advice to tenants at the commencement of their tenancy.
• Variations of tenancy, transfers, exchanges, advice on rights of succession and assignment and tenancy.
• Enforcement of tenancy conditions including the prevention of anti-social behaviour.
• Tenant Participation, support for tenant groups and consultation with groups and individuals.
• Management of empty properties and ensuring they are fit for reletting in the minimum time.
• Advice on prevention of rent arrears and methods of rent payment.
• Recovery of rent arrears and former tenant arrears.
• Management of the Council's sheltered and very sheltered housing schemes.
• Assessment of the Right to Buy applications including calculation of price and discount.
• Administration and Management of the Council's Lifeline service, installation of Lifeline units.
• Repair and maintenance of the Council's Housing stock including adaptations for disabled people and planned improvement programme.
