Social benefits
Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit are schemes to help pay for rent and council tax. The benefits are calculated and paid by Lewes District Council to all entitled residents of the district. To receive these benefits you must make a claim with Lewes District Council. If you are claiming Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance you are also entitled to make a claim for Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit at the same time.
The level of benefit that you receive will reflect your current circumstances, i.e. your household, your rent, your income and your savings.
