Local Land Charges SearchesThe search is in two parts. The first part (Form LLC1) deals with all registrable charges, such as conditional planning permissions, tree preservation orders, conservation areas, listed buildings etc. The second part (Form CON 29) deals with enquiries regarding planning and building regulations, highway matters, planning designations and proposals etc. Drainage enquiries are dealt with by Southern Water Services Ltd. Two Ordnance Survey or Land Registry plans should also be submitted showing the area to be searched outlined in red. A cheque made payable to “Lewes District Council” for the correct fee (see below) should also be attached. Postal Search applications should be sent to: NLIS (National Land Information Service)The Council has a differential pricing policy for searches received via NLIS and if you have not yet made arrangements with an NLIS Licensed Channel for the submission of your searches, we recommend you contact the following NLIS Licensed Channel providers for information on their services and how to participate: Jordans Limited Searchflow TM Property Service Ltd CON 29 Standard enquiries(Part I)All these enquiries are replied to for the "basic" search fee. Information about other roadways, footways and footpaths (Box C)These roads etc. should be clearly named in box C and/or marked on the plan. The Council cannot reply to phrases such as "all those abutting the property". Names of those involved in the sale of a property (Box E)CON 29R forms that are submitted for inclusion in a Home Information Pack (HIP) should include the names of the parties involved in the sale of the property. CON 29O optional enquiriesYou should clearly mark in the relevant box if you want answers to these enquiries. Please remember to include the necessary fee for each enquiry. Additional enquiriesThese should be clearly typed on an additional sheet of paper and attached to the search. Questions must be clear and not include subjective terms such as "likely to affect the enjoyment" or cover too wide an area to be answered definitively. Again, please remember to include the necessary fee for each enquiry. The information given on a search relates only to the property or land identified on the search request and plan.The Council's target for responding to "basic" searches is 6 working days from the date of acceptance of a correctly completed request. Personal Searches (Appointments preferred)A personal search is an inspection of the Local Land Charges Register. It can be carried out by anyone upon payment of the fee. A "basic" search of Form LLC1 & CON 29R standard enquiries therefore costs £128.00. (Note: for all HIP searches completed on or after 1 August 2007, this price includes one free search refresh if requested by the original applicant within six months of the original search completion date).
