Building Control carry out the function of applying the Building Regulations to all work subject to the Regulations. Nearly all work now is subject to control. All building works, structural alterations, replacement windows and heating installations require consent prior to undertaking the work. Proposals are checked, where necessary, for compliance, approvals issued and work on site checked to ensure the standards are being satisfied. Upon satisfactory completion a final certificate will be issued. Demolitions are dealt with under the Building Act 1984 and require notice to be given to the local authority before demolition begins. A notice will be given if appropriate given details of specific conditions to protect adjoining properties and the public. Building Control Staff
