This document sets out, in general terms, the approach to housing, commercial and other development, and conservation, and the role of different parts of the District. The main document can be viewed by clicking on the links below. The document is available both as a single file and as four smaller files (for visitors with a slower Internet connection). Please note that the single document is of a large file size (4MB). Alternatively, hard copies of the document are available at the Council offices and libraries. We are analysing the responses to the consultation. We are also considering the implications of some changes in the way that Government requires the Core Strategy to be produced; for example, the level of detail on housing that it has to cover. We intend to publish a refreshed Core Strategy document for consultation in 2009. After this we prepare a final version of the Core Strategy for submission to Government who will arrange for an independent Inspector to hold a public examination to assess whether it is sound.
