It has a statutory duty to report on improvements in energy efficiency under the Home Energy Conservation Act 1995. This set out that Councils have to improve energy efficiency in their district by 30% over 15 years. The Council has an Energy Strategy. See Energy Efficiency Advice in the Relevant Documents section below for advice on how to conserve energy in the home. The Council gives many grants to help a number of households install energy efficient measures and also promotes a number of others. Grants are available for cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.
