Pet care

While you are away

If you go on holiday or into hospital you will need someone to look after your pet. The most common option is to ask a family member, good neighbour or friend to help. If not, for cats and dogs, you may need to contact a local kennel or cattery. You should be able to find details of these in your local telephone directory. You could ask your local veterinary surgeon or the local Animal Warden to suggest some alternative options.  A list of local kennels and catteries is also available in the relevant documents section below.

Rehoming

The Animal Wardens work closely with many Animal Charities, who may be able to arrange for short term, or permanent re-homing of dogs.  Great care is taken by the Charities to ensure that the dog is placed with the most suitable households to ensure its continued well-being. See the useful links at the bottom of this page for more details.

See the relevant documents section below for a list of some local kennels.
