We operate more than 130 sites across the Lewes District, where people can bring their recyclables. Mini Recycling CentresFor more information and whereabouts of our mini-recycling centres please look at the "Mini-Recycling Centres in the Lewes District" under the "Relevant documents" on the right hand side of this page. Information about what can and can't be recycled is listed below.What can and can't be recycled....Glass
Yes - Bottles and jars. These should be divided into green (and blue), clear and brown. Plastic
Yes - Bottles only. Please always remove the lids, particularly on fizzy drinks bottles. Metal
Yes - All food and drinks cans. Please wash these out but don't worry about labels. Scrap Metal
Pans and cutlery (kerbside reycling collection only). Aluminium Foil
Yes - Foil (clean only), takeaway trays and lids. If there is not a separate foil bank, place it in a bag and put it in the can bank. Carrier Bags
Yes - Separated, empty and clean. Papers / Books
Yes - Newspapers, magazines, junk mail and books which must be in good condition. Cardboard
There is a cage at the front of the Community Recycling Centre, North St, Lewes. Any boxes left at any of the mini recycling centres will not be recycled. Clothes / DVD/CD Disks / Video Tapes / Bric-a-Brac
Yes - Clean clothes, even if they are worn out, bedding (not duvets) - it must be bagged. Shoes and Boots
Yes - Pairs of shoes and boots. Mobile Phones / Stamps / Spectacles
These can be brought to the Community Recycling Centre, 20 North Street, Lewes. These are passed on to various charities. Useful Links
