We currently employ three experienced Pest Control Officers who deal with approximately 3,000 requests per year for this service. Pests which are considered to be public health problems, such as rats are dealt with for free in domestic premises. Mice, which are also a public health risk, can be dealt with for a charge. Pests which are not considered a public health nuisance, for example wasps and fleas, are dealt with for a charge. In addition to eradication of pests, Officers are also pleased to give advice on prevention and steps that householders can take themselves to eradicate or proof against infestations. Officers will give advice on a whole range of animal related issues including squirrels, foxes, rabbits, moles and seagulls, although we do not provide a service to directly deal with these animals.
