It depends.
Many people run catering businesses and manufacture low-risk foods (e.g. cakes, jam etc) from their home. However, it is not normally possible to manufacture high risk foods (e.g. ready made meals containing meat or fish) from home.
If you do use your home as a food business, you will need to comply with current hygiene laws. You may also require planning consent before starting a food business from home.
It is vital that you contact Environmental Health for further advice.
