You are here: Home > Environment and Planning > Food production and quality > Where can I get training in food hygiene? Where can I get training in food hygiene?Food handlers are now required, under the Food Safety Act 1990, to hold a Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene. The Environmental Health Department at Lewes District Council holds Food Hygiene Courses on a regular basis, at a cost of £55 per person. These are full one day courses (9am - 5pm) run by fully qualified officers, and are usually held at the Council Offices, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes. A short exam will take place at the end of the day, which will be marked by The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. A Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene will then be issued at a later date and sent to you in the post. Details of courses can be located on this web site. Car parking is available at the train station, which is approximately two minutes walk from Southover House. Trains and Buses run regularly into Lewes and the Bus and Train Stations are both less than five minutes walk to Southover House. If you require a map for directions, please contact us. Other organisations run similar courses; some are offered in a selection of languages. We can supply you with a list of these organisations. For a booking form or more information please telephone 01273 484358 or e-mail ehealth@lewes.gov.uk. |
