On occasion, during the summer months, the Animal Wardens receive reports from members of the public concerned about dogs left unattended in vehicles. Provided a vehicle description, registration number (if possible) and locality are provided the Wardens will visit and assess the situation. If the dog shows no sign of distress, and sufficient air circulation and water is available, they will monitor the situation until the owner returns. However, If the dog is distressed and clearly suffering, the Wardens may request the local Police to attend and remove it from the vehicle. The Council will care for the animal until the owner returns. |
