A draft of the document is available to view below: Comment are invited until 5 November 2007. Please email your comments to nicola.chappell@dtz.com or send them to: Nicola Chappell, Dtz Consulting & Research, Greyfriars Gate, 5 Greyfriars Road, Reading, RG1 1NV. Below is a presentation given by Dtz at the stakeholder engagement event: Location AppraisalsAs part of the evidence gathering for the Local Development Framework we have carried out an extensive assessment of all the settlements within the District. We have carried out survey work and desktop research as well as consultation with the relevant town and parish councils to produce an audit of facilities and services for each settlement. The Location Appraisal contains information on many factors including population, listed buildings, land designations, businesses, shops, schools, public transport, etc for each settlement. The information from these appraisals was used to produce the sustainability of settlements in the Lewes District report. Sustainability of Settlements in the Lewes DistrictThis report sets out an assessment of all settlements in the district using the evidence/information gathered from the location appraisals. In this document it sets out the sustainability of each settlement then ranks them. This was used as part of the evidence base of the core strategy and is a background report to be submitted at the same time as the core strategy. A way forward for the economy of the Lewes District. This is the economic development strategy for the District 2006 (Both of these documents can be located in the 'Relevant documents' section on the right hand side of this page). Newhaven Eastside MasterplanNewhaven is a passenger and freight port and a focus for industrial activity in East Sussex. These activities are concentrated on the east side of the River Ouse, and for many years further land there has been allocated to provide for their future growth. Currently there is debate about the future directions for these important sectors of the local economy, and about the use of land for these purposes at Eastside. Therefore the county and district councils and the Newhaven Strategic Network joined together to commission an independent and authoritative assessment from Roger Tymm and Partners (consultant planners and development economists). Their report, titled Newhaven Eastside Masterplan, has now been published. Copies of the full study and the four appendices are available to download below:
Paper copies of the study and its appendices are available from Paul Hoppen, Planning and Environmental Services, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, BN1 4AB, price £11 plus £1 postage (please make cheques payable to Lewes District Council).
