You are here: Home > Environment and Planning > Land and premises > Buildings > Building regulations > Pre-application advice > How do I make a planning application? How do I make a planning application? We encourage you to discuss your plans with us before you send in your application. The Planning office in Southover House. Southover Road, Lewes is open between 9.00 am and 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on Friday. Alternatively you can make an appointment with a planning officer. For the planning contacts list, please see the 'Related topics' section to the right of this page. Pre-application discussions are useful in letting you know whether your application is likely to be acceptable but any officer view expressed at this stage is not binding on the Council. We would also suggest you contact your neighbours at an early stage to tell them about your plans. Once an application is submitted we will formally write to them to ask if they have any comments. You will be able to see any comments made by local residents. All applications must be submitted using standard planning application forms. These forms, together with guidance notes, are in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format to download and print. There are several different forms so please be sure to use the correct one, otherwise your application could be delayed. For copies of these forms, please see the 'Relevant documents' section to the right of this page. You are strongly advised to use the guidance notes when making your application and to make sure that all questions are answered. It is particularly important that you read the notes about the need for accurate, scaled plans/drawings that clearly illustrate your proposal. A covering letter or supporting statement explaining your proposal is also advised. If you need any help in completing the form please contact the Planning Information Office. |
