It is prepared and published by East Sussex and Brighton and Hove Councils as they are the authorities responsible for dealing with matters relating to the disposal of waste. However, Lewes District Council is responsible for the collection of waste i.e. bin collection, recycling etc (link to appropriate web page). A Public Inquiry into objections to the draft Waste Local Plan was held in 2003. A report by the independent Inspector, who presided over the Inquiry, was received in 2004. After further modifications to the draft Waste Local Plan, in response to the Inspector's Report, and public consultation on the modifications, the Plan was formally adopted in March 2006. It now forms the statutory planning framework for considering planning applications for waste related development in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. The full text of the adopted Local Plan can be seen on the web at http://wastelocalplanescc.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm?request=b1146164
