What can I do about dog fouling?

If you see someone allowing their dog to foul, and not clearing up afterwards, try & take a note of the date, time, location and details of the dog owner (if known). It is an offence not to clear up after your dog when it has fould an area to which the public have access, event private property.Telephone our Animal Wardens on 01273 484354 who will be happy to discuss the problem with you and a way of resolving it.

If someone is allowing a dog to foul in your garden the Council will be unable to get involved as the Legislation does not cover private property to which the public does not have access. We can only offer advice and suggest you seek legal representation if the problem persists.

We do not provide Poop Scoops to dog owners. These should be purchased from Supermarkets or Pet Shops, although we will occasionally distribute them for promotional purposes.

Dog bins have been erected in many areas of the district to encourage dog owners to pick up after their pets. Occasionally these bins may become full and the bags overflow onto the ground below. Please telephone 01273 484999 (our Community Services Section) to report this.
