Performing Animals Licences

Information for owners of animals looking to perform in public, how to apply and the fees involved with issuing a licence.

Who Should Apply?

Anyone intending to keep or train animals for public performance (eg circus or films) needs to be registered with us.

Apply Online

We work in partnership with Business Link to issue all of our licences online. You will be required to follow these steps: 

  1. Complete the Business Link questionnaire on 'Your Business'
  2.  Receive a checklist of all licences that apply to you
  3. Apply for each licence from the Business Link results page.

By creating a Business Link account, your results will be stored in your profile. You may log-in and return to them in your own time. In addition to listing all the licences required, the questionnaire results will also detail the regulations your business should meet as well as provide further help and guidance.

 Annual fee  £50

 

Application Process

An application form for registration must be submitted together with a copy of your Public Liability Insurance Policy and the current fee. 

On receipt of a completed application we will check that the premises and accommodation satisfy basic standards for the health, welfare and safety of the animals you intend to keep. 

We may arrange a veterinary surgeon’s inspection to ensure the accommodation is suitable.  The cost of any such inspection would be paid by the applicant.  The licence would be issued subject to compliance with licence conditions.
