Stage Hypnotism Licences

Information on the consent needed to give an exhibition, demonstration or performance of Hypnotism.

Who needs to apply

Anyone giving an exhibition, demonstration or performance of Hypnotism on any person or in connection with entertainment to which the public are admitted, whether by payment or otherwise, is required to obtain authorisation from us by way of consent.

A separate application must be made by the person carrying out the act in relation to each premises/venue intended to be used. Permission from the owner of the premises where the activity will take place is not required as part of the application process.

An application form must be completed and returned to us and should be submitted at least 28 days before the performance, otherwise the application may not be determined in time. The hypnotist must also provide evidence of a reasonable level of public liability insurance to us.

Apply Online

We work in partnership with Business Link to issue all of our licences online. You will be required to follow these steps:

Complete the Business Link questionnaire on 'Your Business'
Receive a checklist of all licences that apply to you
Apply for each licence from the Business Link results page.

By creating a Business Link account, your results will be stored in your profile. You may log-in and return to them in your own time. In addition to listing all the licences required, the questionnaire results will also detail the regulations your business should meet as well as provide further help and guidance.

Fees

The cost of an application will be £50.

Processing applications

Once a completed application form is received and the information has been checked, the designated agencies will be consulted. If there are no objections the authorisation will be approved.

Any licence issued will be subject to conditions and you must ensure that you are able to comply with the conditions that shall be imposed.
