Reporting An Health & Safety Incident - RIDDOR
If an accident occurs at work it should be reported where we may investigate the circumstances.
Unfortunately accidents at work do occur. Under certain circumstances accidents at work must be reported to either the HSE or the Local Authority as quickly as possible. These requirements are laid down in the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995
The circumstances when you must report an accident include:
- If a member of the public is taken directly to hospital from your place of work
- If a member of staff is off work for more than 3 days following an accident
- Any amputation
- Any fatality
- Acquires a notifiable disease through their work e.g. contact dermatitis, occupational asthma, repetitive strain injury, etc.
