Currency of InformationOur website lists basic textual and spatial information on all planning/planning appeal applications back to 1948; more detailed information is contained in applications received after 1992. Applications received after March 2006 have been processed using our new planning system and therefore contains complete planning information. Enforcement records are current from March 2006, however all served notices since 1973 are included. All of our spatial holdings are subject to the Ordnance Survey’s (OS) Positional Accuracy Improvement (PAI) Programme. We have used a specialist PAI correction programme to adjust all of our planning spatial records to post-PAI mapping; however some records may still be affected by a level of PAI inaccuracy and users should take this fact into account whilst performing any map based searches. All inaccuracies found should be reported to the GIS Officer at: planning@lewes.gov.uk LimitationsThe online planning records must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal “Land Charge Search”, please contact our land charges section for details of how to apply for a formal “Land Charge Search”. Similarly any boundaries shown on the Ordnance Survey mapping and implied through planning applications do not necessarily relate to land ownership. The Council dos not hold records of private land. All queries related to land ownership should be directed to HM Land Registry at: www.landregisteronline.gov.uk/ Please note these services are chargeable.
