Our Chief Executive is based at Lewes House and oversees day-to-day operations of the Council and leads the Corporate Management Team.
Our Chief Executive is Jenny Rowlands who joined Lewes District Council on 1 September 2010.
Our Chief Executive oversees the corporate management of our services and our strategic planning. During elections, they are the Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer.
The Council pays salaries at median level for District Councils in the South East. The current salary range for the post of Chief Executive is £94,116 to £103,539.
The Council provides a leased car on which the post holder pays income tax and also pays the running costs for personal use.
The Council reimburses its staff the amount of expenses necessarily incurred in the execution of official duties such as rail travel, telephone calls, food and incidental expenses. All staff who work for the Council must produce receipts to validate their claims.
We have an overall, council-wide customer charter setting out our staff's conduct and response times to enquiries. Along with this, each department has specific service standards to cover their work.
