How to apply for council tax benefit and who may be entitled to receive financial support.
Council Tax Benefit
To apply for council tax benefit contact the Benefits Section to speak to one of our staff. An application form can be downloaded and completed to provide us with the necessary details.
You can also see if you are entitled to help by using the Entited To website which provides online benefit quotes.
Alternative Council Tax Benefit
This is also known as Second Adult Rebate. You may also get help towards your council tax if your income is too high but you share your home with someone other than a partner or a person paying you rent, who is on a low income.
You will not be entitled to receive both council tax benefit and alternative council tax benefit. Your entitlement to each benefit will be calculated and the biggest reduction given to you automatically.
If you intend to make a claim for benefit, please register your intent with the Benefits Section. This will enable a successful claim to be paid from the date you contact us.
