Councillor David Gray became Chair of Lewes District Council on 12 May 2009. During his year he aims to focus on friendship and co-operation.

He has been a Lewes District Councillor since May 2007 as well as Lead Councillor for Community. He is currently the Council’s representative on Age Concern’s governing body. He said ; “My aim is to encourage a spirit of harmony and benevolence in communities throughout the district. Harmony and benevolence translate into friendship and co-operation. I will be bringing to light the work of faith groups in the district and their contribution to the well-being of society. This will culminate in an event later in the year involving representatives from faith groups and voluntary organisations. I also plan to ask the neighbourhood watch co-ordinators to nominate people for a “Neighbour of the year” award, the winner will be announced later this year”. At the Annual Council Meeting the decision was also taken that Councillor Patirica Bennett become the new Vice Chair of the Council. |
