Council Bills - Ways To Pay

Council invoices and bills can be paid in a variety of ways. See payment methods and choose the most appropriate for you.

The amounts shown on an invoice is due immediately and payment is required within 10 days, unless otherwise stated and may be paid in the following ways:

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Solo, Visa Delta, Visa Electron Maestro. We do not accept Diners Card or American Express. Please note: There is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments.

Pay By Bank Transfer

You can pay using online banking if you have the facility set-up on your account. Our account details are contained on the invoice sent to you.

Use our dedicated 24-hour automated payment telephone line to make payments by debit or credit card.

Pay By Post

Cheques and Postal Orders
Make payable to Lewes District Council and crossed 'Account payee'. Please include the counterfoil sent with your invoice and write the invoice number on the back of the cheque. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.

Payments should be sent by registered mail and in all cases postage must be prepaid.

Pay In-Person

At A Bank
You can pay at a bank using the counterfoil attached to the invoice you have received. You will be responsible to pay any charges to process this payment.

At A Post Office
You can pay at a Post Office by using the counterfoil attached to the invoice you have received. Present the invoice and the full amount due at the counter. Cheques should be made payable to Post Office Ltd. You will be responsible to pay any charges to process this payment.

Payment Cards
A payment card can be issued allowing payments to be made at Post Offices and Paypoint outlets without incurring any charges. Please contact us on 01273 484083 or email income@lewes.gov.uk to request one.
