Lewes District Council

Our Constitution

Lewes District Council has an agreed constitution setting out how we operate, make decisions, follow procedures and ensure we are efficient, transparent and accountable.

The Local Government Act 2000 required Councils to have a specified political management structures.

Following a public consultation, we chose a Leader and Cabinet model. These began to operate on 1 October 2001.
