What is the efficiency saving information on my bill?

All Councils are now required by the Government to show on the Council Tax bill the value of the efficiency savings that are being made. As well as a total, the amount that this saving represents for the average taxpayer is also shown. This saving has already been taken into account when calculating the tax bill and is not a refund that will be paid in the future by the Council.

Some more information about the efficiency savings that each Council is making are shown in the leaflet that is sent out with the Council Tax bill: see page 10 for East Sussex County Council and page 14 for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Lewes District Council’s efficiency savings are explained on page 19. They have been made in the following areas: office accommodation, refuse collection, advertising and administrative costs.
