The event, which was organised by the Landport Residents Group and Lewes District Council Parks Department, was held to ask children and parents what they thought of the existing park facilities and to show the proposals for the new skate park and youth shelter. These new facilities are to be provided as part of the Children’s Play Initiative, partly funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Over 60 children from the Landport area came to the event, along with representatives from Lewes District Council, the local police, Lewes YMCA and the Landport Residents Group. The food and drink seemed much appreciated by all the visitors, many of whom ended the event by having a game of cricket on the recreation ground. Further information is available from Andy Frost, Lewes District Council Parks Manager on 01273 484398 or email andy.frost@lewes.gov.uk The Big Lottery Fund distributes half of all National Lottery good cause funding across the UK. The Fund aims to enable others to make real improvements to the lives of disadvantaged people and the wellbeing of communities, through fair and open funding of people, projects and programmes.
