Specification for street nameplates

How new housing developments are named or numbered

Traditional

1. Two oak posts, round top, size 1000mm x 100mm x 1350mm (450mm in ground). Posts set in concrete at base.

2.  Nameplates are manufactured from 11swg aluminium with die-pressed black Kindersley lettering and border on white non reflective background, drilled for fixing.

3.  Lettering size 90mm or 50mm.

4.  Softwood backboard 175mm x 30mm dressed and treated or impregnated.

5.  Two M10 x 150mm galvanised bolts and nuts for bolting backboard to posts.

6.  Zinc anti-vandal round head screws for screwing nameplate to backboard (6 in total).

7.  Nameplates to be erected each side of road on back edge of grass verge or rear of footpath near boundary wall or fence.

Recycled Plastic Posts and Backboards manufactured from PLASWOOD

1.  Posts:  1350mm x 80mm x 80mm black recycled plastic.  Slanted tops square ends.  Drilled to take bolts.  Posts set in concrete at base (450mm in ground).

2.  Backing Boards:   150mm x 30mm black recycled plastic, drilled to take bolts.  Boards to include 4No. M8 stainless steel bolts, washers and locking nuts.

3.  Nameplates:  Die-pressed (semi-sheared), stove enamelled reflective background.

4.  Lettering:  Kindersley patter, black on white background, no reflective.
