Can I or my organisation use Lewes or Newhaven Pedestrian Precinct?Yes, but you will need to get permission from us if you are wishing to:-
Amplified music or speech is not permitted. All vehicles are banned from the precinct with the exception of emergency services, security deliveries, repairs to underground services and/or in connection with Lewes Bonfire Processions. You will be required to complete an application form at least fourteen days prior to the proposed ‘use of the precinct’, specifying the date(s) required. If permission is granted written confirmation will be issued before the event. Commercial organisations may be charged a fee for use of the precinct. No additional permissions will be granted for use of Lewes pedestrian precinct on “Farmers’ Market Day” (first Saturday each month). If you require a stall at the Market, please contact the organiser, Tina Deubert, on 01273 470900. If you represent a charitable organisation wishing to raise funds by means of a ‘Street Collection’ you will also be required to apply for a Street Collection Permit, for which 28 days’ notice is required. Only one organisation may carry out a collection in the precinct(s) on any one day, and a permit is valid for one day only. A street collection is permissible on a Farmers’ Market Day.
