Do I need to register?Yes, you are required to register with this authority, under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 Sections 15, 16 & 17, to carry out any of the above, either from home, in other peoples homes, or on a business premises. To carry out any of these practices on a business premises it will also be a requirement that the business is registered. You will be required to complete and return an application form together with copies of any relevant qualifications that are held. A fee of £80 will be charged for registration but this will be a "one off" payment as these licences are permanent, although you will need to contact us if you decide to operate from a different premises or cease to practice as a business. An Officer will inspect either the business premises/home address and will focus on sterilisation, use of disposable needles, disposal of sharps, general cleanliness, knowledge of RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995), first aid and risk assessment. Once approved the licence will be issued and sent to you, together with an updated copy of the conditions to be complied with. A copy of the standard conditions is available on this web site. A Tattooist will be required to keep a register of all people tattooed including proof of age. Any licence, once issued, should be on visible display at the premises.
