You are here: Home > Business > Business and street trading licences > Animal licences > Where can I board my cat or dog, can you recommend a kennel? Where can I board my cat or dog, can you recommend a kennel? The Council is unable to recommend kennels as, under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963, it is the licensing and enforcing authority. All establishments, including home boarding, are licensed by us and registers of current licensed premises are available on this web. Inspections are carried out by Environmental Health on an annual basis, ensuring that licence conditions are being fully complied with, prior to the issue or renewal of a licence. Home Animal Boarding Establishments, for people wishing to board animals in their own home, must also be licensed with Lewes District Council, although the conditions of the licence are slightly different. Alternatively, you can check Yellow Pages for kennels both within and outside of Lewes District Council's area. If you select a kennel outside the area you may wish to check that it is licensed with the relevant authority. The Dogs Trust or RSPCA may also be able to help you. If you require any further information or advice please telephone 01273 484358 or e-mail ehealth@lewes.gov.uk |
