You are here: Home > Business > Business and street trading licences > Animal licences > My pet was ill after staying in kennels, whom should I complain to? My pet was ill after staying in kennels, whom should I complain to?If you are unhappy with the conditions of the establishment and feel it had an impact on the health of your pet, then you should first contact your vet to establish whether the illness may have occurred as a result of your pet being boarded at the kennels. If your complaint concerns the way your pet was treated whilst kennelled, you will need to contact the RSPCA initially for advice. An Environmental Health Officer may be able to carry out a joint inspection of the business with an RSPCA Inspector. Cat, Dog & Home Boarding Establishments are required, under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963, to be licensed by us, renewable annually, and must comply with the conditions set out in that licence. An inspection is undertaken by Environmental Health prior to the issue of new and renewable licences, ensuring that licence conditions are fully complied with. All establishments licensed by this Council can be found on the Cat Boarding Register, Dog Boarding Register or Home Boarding Register on this web site. For more information or advice please telephone 01273 484358 or e-mail ehealth@lewes.gov.uk
