Getting rid of rubbish costs British business nearly 5% of annual turnover. And most businesses could save 20% of their energy bills through low-cost or no-cost energy saving measures.

The business excellence through resource efficiency (betre) programme offers a range of FREE support and advice, designed to help small and medium sized businesses in East Sussex to cut costs through waste minimisation and recycling, and energy and water efficiency.

FREE opportunities for local SMEs

• A series of four half day workshops giving practical information on reducing overheads. Previous SUMS delegates achieved on average £5,000-£10,000 in savings. Your business could be the next to benefit!

• Sector specific events for farmers & growers, hospitality & construction sector to help delegates develop improvement actions

• A half day site visit by a local qualified consultant resulting in a short report outlining key areas for improvement

• Offers 50% (up to £1,000) towards the costs of implementing resource saving measures

The programme is run in partnership with all East Sussex Local Authorities, the Environment Agency and Ecosys, a not-for-profit environmental education organisation. Funding is provided by Viridor Credits and Onyx Environmental Trust, via the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme, all East Sussex Local Authorities, South East Economic Development Agency and the Environment Agency.
